International Association of Peace Messenger Cities (IAPMC)
The International Association of Peace Messenger Cities was established to recognize the role and responsibility cities have in creating a culture of peace all over the planet and encourage their active and creative participation.
The first members of the IAPMC were the war-scourged cities designated by the United Nations General Assembly as Peace Messengers in 1986.
With a consultative status at the ECOSOS, the IAPMC has been extensively involved in numerous peace campaigns, banning of anti-personnel landmines campaign, nuclear non-proliferation, human rights, and has a consultative status to the UN Economic and Social Council.
Volgograd has been part of the IAPMC since 1987, is a member of the IAPMC Executive Bureau and was elected one of its three Vice-Presidents for 2019–2022.
Volgograd’s participation in the IAPMC activities allows our city to efficiently convey the information about its projects to the world community and strengthen the city’s image.
